THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is the signature pedal of Chris Buck, designed to meet his exacting needs as a dynamic player. From crystal clear, punchy cleans to richly saturated overdrive, it provides a wide tonal palette. It features two sides: a fully featured tube/valve overdrive with a 3-band EQ (left) and a super clean, high-headroom boost (right). The boost runs into the valve overdrive, giving three distinct tonal variants—from clean boost through to full and fat saturation. It also cleans up impeccably from your guitar’s volume control, ideal for players who constantly adjust dynamics.
CONTROLS
LEFT FOOTSWITCH: Engages or bypasses the drive side.
RIGHT FOOTSWITCH: Engages or bypasses the boost side.
VOLUME: Sets the output level of the drive side.
GAIN: Sets the amount of drive, from lightly crispy to heavier overdrive.
BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency response of the drive; clockwise increases bass. Highly responsive—small turns go a long way.
MIDS: Adjusts the midrange response of the drive; clockwise emphasizes mids. Powerful enough to adapt to different backlines.
TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency response of the drive; clockwise emphasizes treble. Sensitive and versatile.
BOOST: Adjusts the boost level. Use alone or cascade into the drive. Chris uses this just above unity gain to fatten or sweeten his tone in combination with the Lows control.
LOWS: Adds low end to the boost side, yielding crystal-clear yet fat clean sounds.
POWER and CURRENT
Use 12V DC, centre-negative power. At power-up, inrush current can reach around 700 mA, settling to about 280–300 mA during use. A 12V 1000 mA centre-negative adaptor is supplied and recommended for strong, stable power. Quality 12V/500 mA supplies may work but can take longer to reach steady state. If your supply cannot deliver enough current, the pedal may fail to start or the LEDs may stutter and flash; if so, wait briefly, then use the supplied adaptor. Do not use other voltages or polarities.
